Carpenters Local 747 holds meeting in Salina to discuss Madoff losses

Salina, NY -- Members of Carpenters Local 747 will meet to hear how much money the Madoff investment scandal has cost them.
Members already knew that the $65 billion investment scam discovered in December 2008 had caused them to lose millions from their pension and annunity funds. Now members said they expect to be told that their health care fund have lost money, as well.
"Our biggest thing is the health fund when the Madoff thing hit we were told it was fine," said Marty Andrewski, 43, a carpenter from Taberg. "Now we’re told we’re losing half of it, $14 million."
The carpenters will meet at 5 p.m. in the Holiday Inn on Buckley Road in Salina.

Nice job on the blogg and 370voice.We had our meeting with the esrcc funds director on wed 01/13 We will lose 19.5 % of our account balance on 01/01/2006 the day we merged with the council to save money. The members had no input or choice on the matter as usual with the council.

Brother Matava. Can you tell us the breakdown of the 19.5%. Was it all annuity.Was it your HRA,Pension or 19.5% of each account. If you have suffered other account loss can you detail it.Thank you for your post
